Cowell: 'We won't ban prostitutes'

Simon Cowell has confirmed that upcoming contestant Chloe Mafia will not be removed from The X Factor.

Mafia's future on the show was left in doubt after The Sun claimed that she had been working as a £160-an-hour prostitute.

However, Cowell told the paper that the singer - whose audition is yet to air - would not be axed as long as she did not work while appearing on the ITV1 programme.

"We haven't banned prostitutes," he said. "I think you'd want to show the story if we're allowed - I want to see the story."

He continued: "We can't just take people off the show because they might do something that upsets some people.

"If a person applies to be on The X Factor it's obvious to me that they want to do something better with their life."

Kinect voice control delayed for Europe

Kinect will not support voice control for European languages at launch.

Microsoft has told Eurogamer that the software will only recognise British English, American English, Japanese and Mexican Spanish at launch.

Users across Europe, as well as Canadian English speakers, will not be able to use voice commands until spring next year.

The system will also region-lock voice control to the UK, United States and Japan, so players in Canada and Europe who speak English will have to wait for the feature.

Cameron: 'Piranha 3D is bottom of the barrel'

James Cameron has blasted the Piranha remake, claiming that it has cheapened the 3D medium.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Cameron - who was dismissed from the director's chair for Piranha Part Two: The Spawning in the early '80s - admitted that he had "zero" nostalgic feelings for Alexandre Aja's 3D reworking.

"You’ve got to remember: I worked on Piranha 2 for a few days and got fired off of it; I don't put it on my official filmography," he said. "So there's no sort of fond connection for me whatsoever."

Cameron continued: "I tend almost never to throw other films under the bus, but [Piranha 3D] is exactly an example of what we should not be doing in 3D. Because it just cheapens the medium and reminds you of the bad 3D horror films from the '70s and '80s, like Friday The 13th 3D.

"When movies got to the bottom of the barrel of their creativity and at the last gasp of their financial lifespan, they did a 3D version to get the last few drops of blood out of the turnip. And that's not what's happening now with 3D."
